Pieces of chicken are marinated in a mixture of spices in peanut oil and soy sauce and then grilled on skewers. It is absolutely wonderful, especially together with homemade peanut sauce. I found this great recipe on Kayotic Kitchen,


  • 500g Boneless and skinless chicken thigh, cubed
  • 2 Tbsp Peanut oil
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 1 Red chili, finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp Ketjap manis
  • 1 Tsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp HP sauce
  • 1/2 Tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp Curry powder, hot
  • 1 Tsp Onion powder
  • 1 Tsp Paprika powder
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp Sweet chili sauce
  • Salt



  1. Add all ingredients of the marinade to a medium size mixing bowl and mix well
  2. Add the chicken, mix, and refrigerate at least 4 hours
  3. Thread the chicken pieces on skewers
  4. Cook the chicken on the grill or broil in the oven until inside temperature is 70 °C
  5. Serve with homemade peanut sauce, rice, and a mixed salad
