From time to time I can get fresh plaice in the supermarket. This is a dish with a lot of flavors from garlic, chili, and white wine.


  • 600g Plaice, skin and boneless
  • 2 Garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 Shallots, finely sliced
  • 1 Red bell pepper, julienned
  • 1 Yellow bell pepper, julienned
  • 1 Red chili pepper, finely chopped
  • 4 Tbsp olive oil
  • 50 mL Lemon juice
  • 50 mL Sweet chili
  • 1 tsp Sambal oelek
  • 100 mL White wine
  • 100 mL Parsley, finely chopped
  • Salt



  1. Pre-heat the oven at 225°C
  2. Add salt to the fish
  3. Roll the fish fillets with the skin side towards the inside and place them in a oven proof dish
  4. Heat the olive oil in a skillet on medium high
  5. Add the shallots, garlic, bell pepper and chili and let it cook for a few minutes.
  6. Add lemon juice, sweet chili, wine, parsley and sambal oelek and let it cook for a few minutes
  7. Pour the mixture over the fish
  8. Bake the fish in the oven for 20 minutes or until the inside temperature in the fish has reached 50°C
